What my students are saying

“There are two things people say after attending a Lisa Petersen class. One, is that there is no-one like her. And secondly, that she’s the best yoga teacher they ever had. Lisa honors the body and helps you get in touch with it. But it’s never just about the body; about how far you can bend, how much you can stretch. It’s about the spirit. It’s about emotions. It’s about healing and integrating the body, spirit, mind and heart. All done in a gentle and unobtrusive way, with a lot of laughs.”

Nollaig, Dublin

“Lisa radiates an immediate warmth to the students in the room. I was captured right away by her ability to engage her students, her intelligence of the human body, her ability to make anatomy fascinating, her passion for yoga, her infectious laugh, her humor. Everything about her feels very natural and real.”

Kathryn, Canada

“Lisa has a way of not just teaching and sharing her knowledge, but totally embodying the principles she teaches. When I watch her demonstrate, something is ignited deep within me and all the information aligns. It is clear she has a deep intellectual understanding of what she is teaching, but the beauty is that she can share that knowledge in many different ways, making it accessible to everyone.”

Anna, New Zealand

“Lisa is pure inspiration when it comes to learning how to teach yoga. With a vast fund of knowledge in the yoga science and a natural eye for detail, her love for giving knowledge to others shines through her character in every word and every exchange.”

Ananda, NZ

“Lisa’s instruction took me to places that I have never been able to go before. She opened my world to think beyond the confines of traditional teachings and took my teaching to a higher level. She also taught me how important it is for me as a teacher to honour and take care of myself.”

Elizabeth, UK

“Lisa Petersen brings a depth and sincerity to her classes that is the result of her commitment to both the practice and teaching of Yoga. Her study of contemporary Somatic techniques offers students simple yet effective solutions that are easily incorporated into everyday practice. Students who attend her classes can look forward to clear and informative instruction that is oriented to the needs of each individual in a warm and non-competitive environment. This is the ideal way for anyone to begin or further develop a Yoga practice.”

Donna Farhi, author of Yoga Mind, Body & Spirit and Bringing Yoga to Life

“I marvel at how Lisa navigates groups with such consummate ease. She has a unique ability to take a concept and put it into words that are easy to understand. I am always amazed by people who can share their knowledge in a manner that invites one to take a chance on a different direction.”

Nancy, US

“Lisa synthesizes an open heart with extensive knowledge of yoga, somatics, movement therapy, and bad Irish jokes. She is highly skilled at unpacking complex ideas about how human movement happens and traces this development from conception through to footstep while showing her students how to use their own body as the ground for their exploration. In a nutshell, you might say Lisa “does” somatic empiricism.”

Anna-Marie, Ghana & Canada

“Lisa’s approach is unique, organic, and powerful. It ensures that the body gets a full work-out, whilst the mind enjoys a well deserved rest.”

“Lisa’s teaching embodies yoga’s true potential: light, free, non-judgmental, sacred, strong and loving. Her magical voice seems engineered for relaxation in savasanna.”

Karl, Dublin

“Practicing Yoga with Lisa has been truly relaxing and deeply physical each time. Lisa demonstrates her knowledge in anatomy while talking clearly on how to step into each position and deepen further into each move. She helps everyone individually and you feel at ease with her instantly.”

George, Dublin

“Just when you start questioning your self-worth, someone comes along who gets you back on the path of loving yourself and believing in your talents. That person has been you. You have a wonderful inner strength, vitality, and wisdom that allows others shine through in their own special way.”

Kira, Austria

“I know you will use your life to heal people, just like your smile heals me. I’ve decided your middle name is Grace “Great Love Without Reason.”

Cher, Vancouver

“You bring peace, or maybe you unlock the peace in me. Peace in turn brings stillness which leads to great seismic shifts in my being. Whatever it is, I am eternally grateful for it.”

Tony, Dublin

“I have been doing yoga with Lisa for nearly two years now and enjoy both the atmosphere in the class and her method of teaching. While Lisa has geared the level of yoga down to suit our ability we are ‘secretly’ being stretched a little bit further each time until we are doing things we never thought we could, such as standing on our heads! My flexibility, which is the reason I started yoga in the first place, has improved and at the end of a hard days work I find I have more energy at the end of class than I have going into it…namaste….”

Maura, Dublin

“After more than 2 years battling with severe pain from a slipped disk and getting limited pain relief from various medications and treatments, I was told in December 2011 that the only option for a cure was surgery. However I was due to sit my Leaving Cert exam in June 2012 so couldn’t afford the time. Somatics and especially Lisa was brilliant. It was the only treatment that gave me pain relief. As well as that it helped me relax and allowed me prepare for and sit my Leaving Cert. I do not know how I would have coped without Lisa’s help.”

Caoimhe, Student

“Until Somatics, my life was constant pain, broken sleep, crying the night away with pain and frustration. I had 5 sessions of light, guided and managed exercises, which taught my body to correctly reposition itself, removing the cause of the long term debilitating pain.
Now I do 10 – 15 minutes gentle exercise every day. This routine helps keep me pain free and able to enjoy life. When you are in pain – “The only way is up,” it has really worked for me, give Somatics a try.”

Terezita, Ballroom Dancer

“Somatics is the subtlest, deepest, most integrated body therapy I have experienced.”

Peter, Psychotherapist

“Somatics is a very down to earth way of getting your muscles to do the job they are designed for. It has proved to be a wonderful learning experience for me, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.”

Stephen, Business Manager

“Somatics was the only therapy that gave me an answer to my pain. ”

Jennifer, Director

“After only one session of Somatics, it was like a reset button was pressed and old patterns of holding and tension were released and my pain was gone. It was truly remarkable and so simple to maintain myself.’

Cathy, Yoga Teacher

“If you work over a desk all day and suffer with shoulder and neck pain this is a must for you. Your muscles will love you for it. Goodbye chiropractors !”

Julie, Somatics Student

“After years of bad posture I was amazed at how five somatics sessions has changed me. Niggling aches have all but disappeared and even my clothes fit better. The exercises are easy to integrate into daily life and yet they make such a difference.”

Philippa, Business Owner

“I can’t stop staring in awe at my new, level shoulders every time I go to the bathroom. Just back from another trip and now that I know about it, it amazes me every time. I felt fabulous afterwards, super light and more, well…. balanced. I will be spreading the word even more vehemently now!”

Sarah, Television Producer

“I had a bad dose of sciatica making it almost impossible to be on my feet for any length of time. I have no patience for exercises but for the first time in my life I’m actually enjoying them. It is so uplifting to know that I can manage my pain with an enjoyable 30 minute a day drug-free exercise regime.”

Deirdre, Designer

“I completed the fourth session this week and I can really see how far I’ve come. Both my movment and my flexibility have dramatically improved . I stand, walk, lie and and move completely differently now. It is amazing what you can notice when you know what is right.”

Jane, Secretary

“I have suffered from back pain for many years. I have regularly attended an osteopath who could usually correct my problem. But I was always looking for some way to make my back stronger and to prevent my problem recurring.I went to three private sessions with Lisa where she analysed my shape and structure, and then gave me a number of apparently simple but powerful exercises to do for about fifteen minutes a day. That was eight months ago and despite a lot of stress and anxiety in my personal life my back has never been stronger and healthier. I have had no pain or discomfort and I know that if my old problem should recur I will be able to put it right myself using the Somatics exercises.”

Julie, Author

“The top of my right arm was badly shattered when I was knocked off my bike. I was lucky and the surgery went well
(plate & 7 pins) followed by good physiotherapy. However, my arm still felt like a mechanical stick. After the first session of Somatics in February 2010 I felt like my arm was “plumped out” and round and three dimensional again. Somatics “awoke” all the cells and layers of tissues in a way that the other exercises simply did not reach. I loved the gentleness and the playful exploration of the
approach. I felt re-oxygenated at all levels and my arm felt safe to stretch more fully in all directions. Thank you Lisa! I highly recommend Somatics to anyone who has suffered a similar injury or trauma. Its well worth it. I only needed three sessions of Somatics to get my arm back.”

Eilin Lavelle, NLP Practitioner

“I had a few sessions with Lisa and found her to be a brilliant teacher. She gently and slowly talks you through the movements, and with her very pleasant demeanour I found myself instantly at ease.
I found the exercises wonderful. They are very gentle and slow and what I really like about them is that they don’t put a strain on your body. In addition they are extremely relaxing.
I definitely feel that I am standing straighter and taller and that I am not as hunched and crocked as I was. It’s also great to know that Lisa is there for follow-up advice.”
